Washington Heights has returned to Australian racing in outstanding form and remains the outright $3.10 favourite in 2017 Shannon Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Washington Heights was a strong and consistent performer for Gerald Ryan through the early stages of his racing career; running second to Hallowed Crown in the 2014 Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) on debut has posting several other strong results at black type level.

A strong and consistent performer through a short, injury-plagued stint in Hong Kong, the Commands gelding returned to Australia for a smart win in the Winning Post Restaurant BM93 (1200m) on July 15th.

Badly held up before finishing fourth in the Canterbury RSL Spring Preview (1400m) on August `12th, Washington Heights returned to winning form in the Schweppes BM95 (1400m) last time out on September 2nd.

Dawn Wall ran on extremely well to finish second behind Washington Heights in the Schweppes BM95 first-up and represents terrific value on the second line of Shannon Stakes betting at $3.50 odds.

Dawn Wall showed plenty of talented upon debuting to racing in January this year; winning her second, third and fourth starts, including the Group 3 Kembla Grange Classic (1600m) on March 10th.

Sixth in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) on March 25th, the Fastnet Rock mare returned to winning form in the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) on May 6th, but was sent to the paddock after failing to fire in the Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2200m).

Dawn Wall could receive the run of the race from barrier 3 and should prove extremely difficult to beat in the Shannon Stakes.

Imposing Lass has so-far received the greatest market share of bets to win the Shannon Stakes and has firmed onto the third of betting at a $6 quote, having opened at $7 odds.

Imposing Lass was sent to the paddock after she posted a dominant win in the Group 3 Belle Of Turf Stakes (1600m) at Gosford in early January and resumed this time for a credible third in the Group 3 Toy Show Quality (1300m).

Progressing to second behind stable mate and fellow Shannon Stakes acceptor Lubiton in the Listed Mona Lisa Stakes (1350m) at Wyong on September 1st, the Makfi mare was last seen running fifth in the Group 3 Tibbie Stakes (1400m) at Newcastle last Friday.
